Toyota Yaris

Price $16,790 – $19,450
Fuel consumption 5.9 – 7.8 L/100km
The Car Guide rating 77%(view ratings)
The sedan is gone from Canada, while the hatchback has a different look for 2020. But unlike the new, fourth-generation Yaris that will be sold overseas, built on the Toyota New Global Architecture and available with the brand’s latest hybrid system, ours is actually a rebadged Mazda2. It comes in five-door, 106-horsepower gasoline configuration only. A slight gain in overall length means more room for passengers, while Apple CarPlay and Toyota Safety Sense are technological highlights.

Test Drives2017 Toyota Yaris Hatchback: From A to B
When people shop for a can opener, a washing machine or a stapler, how many actually choose the most stylish, the most powerful or the most expensive model on the market? Very few, I assume. As long as they’re reliable, these items should provide years of worry-free ownership, whether they’re …
Test Drives2016 Toyota Yaris Sedan: The Adopted Child has Talent
The Yaris and its predecessor, the Echo, have always been regarded as basic, reliable transportation. On the other hand, they’ve never been particularly exciting to drive, but that’s not the main criterion of subcompact-car buyers, either. Toyota resuscitated the Yaris Sedan for the 2016 model year, and off the bat, …
First Drives2016 Toyota Yaris Sedan: The Adopted Son
I first drove the 2016 Yaris sedan in Toronto last July. I was there to test the Scion iM so that I could write the text about it for the 2016 edition of Le Guide de l’auto, our best-selling French publication. I tested the Yaris sedan just because I happened …
Test Drives2015 Toyota Yaris: It Ain’t Easy Being a Sub-Compact
Life as a sub-compact isn’t always a bowl of cherries. Their primary use, small size and mandatory low price amount to a big challenge for manufacturers, as it’s hard to hit all these targets and still come up with something that’s inspiring and fun to drive. But then again, buyers …
Test Drives2015 Toyota Yaris: Some New Ingredients, Some Leftovers
You don't have to be a car expert to know that the Yaris was lagging behind in the sub-compact category. Sure, its silhouette was attractive and its passenger compartment was relatively spacious, but the quality of the materials was disappointing at best and its meagre 1.5-litre engine lacked muscle. Toyota …
First Drives2015 Toyota Yaris: Like the Camry, but Smaller
A few months ago, Toyota unveiled the 2015 Camry, a mid-generation model featuring some fairly significant changes. These updates fell just shy of a new generation, as the mechanical parts and chassis remained the same. And now Toyota has just introduced its all-new Yaris. Last revamped in 2011, this valiant …
First DrivesToyota Yaris: A new Nationality for 2015!
The third generation Toyota Yaris has been with us since 2011 and, in such a competitive segment, not renewing a model fast enough is tantamount to suicide. Three years and one discontinuation later – the Yaris sedan was eliminated from the lineup, leaving only the three- and five-door versions – …

NewsToyota Yaris to be Axed in the U.S., Will Canada Follow?
Despite introducing a new Yaris for 2020—actually, the North American version is a rebadged Mazda2— Toyota has decided not to bring it back next year in the U.S. due to poor sales. Will Canada follow the lead? That is more than likely. After all, only 465 units were sold in …
New ModelsWould You Want a Toyota Yaris With Hybrid Tech, AWD?
Warning: The striking new Toyota product you’re about to see here will not come to North America. But given that the C-HR is a fake SUV with no all-wheel drive option, wouldn’t it be sweet? Built on the compact Toyota GA-B platform, the Yaris Cross unveiled today for the European …
New ModelsThis New Toyota Yaris Has Nothing to do With Ours
Twenty years after the original, Toyota hosted the world premiere of the all-new, fourth-generation Yaris. It will go on sale in Japan next February before hitting Europe in the second half of 2020. And Canada? Forget about it. Our Toyota Yaris , which is also brand new for 2020, is …
New York2020 Toyota Yaris Hatchback Makes Official Debut in New York
A couple of weeks after revealing pictures and some information about its 2020 Yaris Hatchback , Toyota officially presented the car at the 2019 New York Auto Show on Wednesday. NewsToyota shows off new Yaris sedan
Toyota hopes to capture the spirit of today's young, savvy and connected buyer with its latest offering the Yaris sedan. The automaker has already sold 46,000 small cars this year, and the 2016 version of the Yaris, which shares a platform with the Mazda2, should add to that number. It …

Review: 2016 Toyota Yaris Sedan
If you think the 2016 Toyota Yaris Sedan looks an awful lot like the Mazda2, well you'd be spot-on. This Toyota is built by Mazda on the same platform after all. Joining the Yaris hatch in the automaker's lineup, Toyota says it's much more than a re-badged version, and the …

Test Drive: 2015 Toyota Yaris
A handful of years ago, Graeme Fletcher was credited for helping bring the Toyota Echo to Canada. So who better to review the latest edition of that car’s successor, the subcompact Toyota Yaris? This segment originally appeared on Episode 6 of Motoring 2015.
