Rolls-Royce Announces First EV, to be Called Spectre
Contrary to previous reports, the first all-electric vehicle from Rolls-Royce will not be called Silent Shadow but rather Spectre. This large sedan is expected to hit the market in the last quarter of 2023.
Aesthetically, the Spectre will retain many of Rolls-Royce’s signature cues including the long hood capped by the Spirit of Ecstasy ornament. The camouflaged car shown in the pictures only has two doors.

“I am proud to announce that Rolls-Royce is to begin the on-road testing program for an extraordinary new product that will elevate the global all-electric car revolution and create the first—and finest—super-luxury product of its type,” said Rolls-Royce Chief Executive Officer Torsten Müller-Ötvös.
Rolls-Royce has been experimenting with an electric powertrain for some time. In 2011, the brand revealed the 102EX concept, a fully operational all-electric Phantom. It was followed in 2016 by the 103EX.
Familiar Architecture
The Spectre will be underpinned by Rolls-Royce’s own spaceframe architecture, which debuted in 2017 on the iconic Phantom.
Rolls-Royce promises its first production EV will deliver the same world-class driving experience that its other models are renowned for.
