As spectacular as a Lamborghini, but as green as a Nissan LEAF, the BMW i8, a plug-in hybrid backed by a 1.5-litre gas engine, is capable of top-notch performance. The big news this year is the addition of a Protonic Red version. Dazzling in red paint, this variant includes several unique decorative features. In fully electric mode, the i8 can travel up to 24 kilometres. Its 0-100 km/h time is just 4.3 seconds, but that kind of speed will reduce its electric range almost as quickly.
