New Futuristic Key Fob For The BMW i8

BMW just announced a new type of key fob for its i8 hybrid sport car.

The fob has all the functions you’d normally find in standard models but also contains a 2.2-inch LCD touch screen to provide information regarding the fuel level, battery charge, whether the doors and windows are locked and when the next service is.

Powering the device is a lithium-ion battery that can be charged simply by placing it in a special bay (contact free) or via a USB port. BMW says the battery should last up to three months between charges.

The innovative premium key fob will be an option for the BMW i8 starting in autumn 2015.
