2025 Genesis GV80 and GV80 Coupe Land in North America

Less than two months after their world premiere in South Korea, the refreshed 2025 Genesis GV80 and all-new 2025 GV80 Coupe made their North American debut on Wednesday during an exclusive event on the eve of the Los Angeles Auto Show.

“We look forward to expanding our GV80 family next year with the addition of the sporty new Coupe,” said José Muñoz, president and CEO of Genesis Motor North America and global chief operating officer of Hyundai Motor Company. “Both the new SUV and Coupe models bring refined performance and bold design to the portfolio, each with their own distinct character for customers to choose.”

2025 GV80 Brings More Refinement, Technology

Aesthetically, the 2025 Genesis GV80 stands out with a double-mesh grille sporting smoother corner lines. Designers have also tweaked the two-line headlamps, although only a keen eye will be able to appreciate the difference. This is complemented by larger air intakes and a wide skid plate on the front bumper, plus a Guilloché-patterned emblem just ahead of the hood.

New chrome trim extends seamlessly through the sides, where two updated wheel designs are available (20 or 22 inches in size). In the rear, the exhaust tips are now hidden for a cleaner appearance.

That’s all very nice, but the main highlight is found inside the GV80 in the form of a 27-inch OLED digital interface for the instruments and audio/navigation atop the completely new dashboard. Some drivers probably won’t like the touch-based HVAC controls below, however.

Meanwhile, the centre console features a redesigned, crystal-like gear selector, revised wireless smartphone charging tray and enlarged cup holders. Two-tone steering wheel options decorated with a new Genesis emblem, an improved pedal design, as well as new accents comprised of leather, aluminum and real wood round out the interior changes.

2025 GV80 Coupe Takes the Fight to the Germans

In a response to German competitors offering sportier body styles, such as the BMW X6, Porsche Cayenne Coupe and Audi Q8, Genesis is adding the GV80 Coupe also for 2025. This new model boasts an expanded air intake up front and a low, sloping roofline in the rear. A two-piece spoiler sits at the top of the rear liftgate and an integrated spoiler can be found below, adding to the vehicle’s athletic silhouette.

Though the same size as those of the regular GV80, the wheels feature a unique design. Ditto for the taillamps. As for the cabin, an available two-tone, flat-bottom steering wheel, metal accents on the pedals and unique patterns and stitching further accentuate the GV80 Coupe’s sportier aspirations.

What About the Engines?

The GV80 will be equipped with two powertrain options: a turbocharged 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine delivering 300 horsepower and a twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 producing 375 horsepower.

Interestingly, the GV80 Coupe will be offered exclusively with a twin-turbo 3.5-litre V6 featuring a 48V electric supercharger, resulting in a stout 409 horsepower and 405 lb-ft. of torque from just 1,300 rpm. The twin-charged engine also improves throttle response at low and medium revs.

As mentioned during the world premiere in late September, Active Sound Design lets drivers replicate the sound of a “large-displacement sports coupe's exhaust.” The GV80 Coupe also gets a Sports+ mode and launch control.

The 2025 Genesis GV80 and GV80 Coupe will go on sale in Canada sometime in 2024, the company said without being more specific. Further details including pricing will be announced at a later date. For the record, the 2024 GV80 starts at an all-inclusive price of $76,000.
