Genesis G80 Follows Big Brother’s Lead for 2025

Hot on the heels of the refreshed and updated 2025 GV80 midsize SUV comes a series of changes to the Genesis G80 midsize sedan, also for 2025. The current generation, remember, dates back to 2021.

Styling revisions are quite subtle. In fact, you have to put the car next to the outgoing model to spot the differences. There’s a double-mesh grille design and new headlights with MLA (Micro Lens Array) technology up front. The lower bumper is slightly redesigned, with expanded intakes on the G80 Sport lending a more aggressive appearance.

On the sides, you’ll find new 20-inch five double-spoke wheels that are reminiscent of an aircraft propeller, or so says Genesis. Moving to the rear, a diffuser-like insert with a distinctive V-shaped chrome trim inspired by the front grille is the main tweak. It also keeps the tailpipes out of sight for a cleaner look.

By the way, both the G80 and G80 Sport are available in 10 exterior colours, including the newly added Brooklyn Brown, along with four interior colour options.

The biggest change to the 2025 model took place inside. Following the lead of the GV80, the sedan gets a completely new dashboard capped by a 27-inch OLED digital interface for the instruments and audio/navigation. Some drivers probably won’t like the touch-based HVAC controls below, however.

On the newly finished centre console is a redesigned crystal-like Shift By Wire selector that ensures a more comfortable grip and adds a sense of luxury. The steering wheel has a more modern look and feel, with the one in the G80 Sport featuring a D-cut shape.

Genesis will provide more details and specs at the official reveal in the first half of 2024. Expect the four- and six-cylinder engines (300 hp and 375 hp, respectively) to carry over along with the eight-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive system. We doubt the company will add the twin-turbo 3.5-litre V6 featuring a 48V electric supercharger (409 hp, 405 lb-ft of torque) that powers the new 2025 GV80 Coupe.
