2021 is Off to a Bad Start for Fiat

Things are clearly not improving for Fiat in Canada.

After a disastrous 2020 that brought in just 228 vehicle sales nationwide, Fiat says it has only sold 32 cars in Canada during the first quarter of 2021.

This is a 50% drop compared to the same period in 2020, when dealerships experienced temporary closures due to the first wave of COVID-19 containment measures.

More specifically, Fiat sold only one Fiat 500, five Fiat 500X and twenty-six Fiat 124 Spiders.

Fiat recently confirmed that the 500L and 124 Spider models would not be back in 2021. This leaves the Italian brand with only one model in its catalogue, the 500X.

These alarming figures continue to fuel rumours about Fiat eventually ditching the North American market. Stellantis remains mum about this particular matter, but dealers have already confirmed to Car Guide journalist Antoine Joubert that floor space currently reserved for Fiat models will be transformed to provide more space to Jeep products, which have seen growing sales over the last several years.

Good news elsewhere at Stellantis

On a more positive note, the other organs at Stellantis are doing much better. Jeep, Ram and Chrysler all saw a much brighter start to the year. Chrysler experienced a 170% increase in sales, thanks to the arrival of the Grand Caravan.
