Fiat 500L, 124 Spider Are Not Coming Back in 2021
FCA has confirmed what many people were expecting: the Fiat 500L and 124 Spider won’t be coming back. There will be no 2021 models for these two.
That means Fiat will continue on as a single-car brand in North America, with just the 500X crossover maintaining its place in the lineup. The iconic Fiat 500 left the market after 2019.

The writing was on the wall—or more precisely the sales numbers. You see, the 500L and 124 Spider are by far some of the least popular cars in the country. The former sold a mere 13 units in all of 2018 and 12 last year, while the latter managed to land in the driveway of 285 and 205 customers, respectively.
After three quarters of 2020, 11 units of the small wagon and 144 units of the roadster (which shares its platform and transmission with the Mazda MX-5) had found takers.
What About the Fiat 500X?
A cousin of the Jeep Renegade, the Fiat 500X isn’t very popular, either, especially by SUV/CUV standards. The base price in excess of $31,000 sure doesn’t help.
The 500X uses a turbocharged 1.3-litre engine that produces 177 horsepower and 210 pound-feet of torque via a nine-speed automatic transmission.
For 2021, a new Sport Appearance Package on Pop models includes 18-inch Sport aluminum wheels, Sport exterior fascias, body-coloured wheel arch mouldings, dual bright exhaust tips and Dark Grey accent exterior trim. Pop and Trekking models receive new seat fabric and dash inserts (late availability). Also, the 500X Sport returns for its second model year.
