Lexus IS 500 F SPORT Adds Launch Edition With Unique Features

Lexus made quite a few compact sports sedan enthusiasts happy last month when it announced the new 2022 IS 500 F Sport Performance. A special Launch Edition is also planned and we can now tell you that it will be limited to just 50 units in Canada.

This model houses the same naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V8 engine that produces 472 horsepower at 7,100 rpm and 395 pound-feet of torque at 4,800 rpm. In fact, there are no changes to the powertrain or chassis.

Rather, the IS 500 F Sport Performance Launch Edition stands out with standard 19-inch split-seven-spoke Matte Black BBS wheels. These alloys are otherwise available via the IS F Sport Dynamic Handling Package.

The vehicle will be sold exclusively in Incognito, an all-new colour for the Lexus lineup and quite a contrast with the flashy Sao Paulo yellow of the new BMW M4.

Inside, look for sports seats wrapped in a combination of black leather and grey suede, the latter material also found on the doors and centre armrest. Additionally, the heated leather-trimmed steering wheel receives unique silver ash wood treatment with black F SPORT Performance badging, while the driver display has been updated with an exclusive Launch Edition startup animation.

And of course, like any self-respecting limited-edition car, this one features a serialized plaque just to remind you how lucky you are.

The 2022 Lexus IS 500 F Sport Performance and the Launch Edition model are expected to arrive in Canadian dealerships this fall. Pricing and available options will be announced closer to launch.
