2020 Subaru Legacy and Outback Pricing is Announced

Subaru Canada has now announced pricing for the completely redesigned 2020 Legacy and Outback, which will go on sale across the country this fall.

The sedan was initially unveiled last winter in Chicago, while the crossover-style wagon made its debut in New York in April.

2020 Subaru Legacy

The seventh-generation Legacy is built on the Subaru Global Platform, which is much more rigid than the old one, and offers two new engines, both paired with all-wheel drive as always.

The first one is a 2.5-litre four-cylinder that’s been re-engineered with 90 percent new parts. It produces 182 horsepower and 176 pound-feet of troque. The second marks the return of a turbocharger in the Legacy. Displacing 2.4 litres, it generates 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque. In both cases, fuel economy ratings have yet to be released.

Six trim levels will be offered: Convenience ($26,395), Touring ($30,295), Limited ($34,295), Premier ($36,295), Limited GT ($37,095) and Premier GT ($39,095). The most affordable Legacy includes a dual seven-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, heated front seats with 10-way power adjustments for the driver and an electronic parking brake.

Automatic LED headlights and Subaru’s EyeSight safety suite, which includes features like adaptive cruise control, lane departure and sway warning, lane-keep assist, lead vehicle start alert and more, will now be standard equipment.

Furthermore, the 2020 Legacy will become the first vehicle in Canada to offer Subaru STARLINK Connected Services with a free three-month subscription on Touring and higher trim levels. The latter also feature a new 11.6-inch touchscreen, a power sunroof and additional safety systems like automatic braking in reverse. The top-line Premier model stands out with Nappa leather upholstery and ventilated front seats.

2020 Subaru Outback

Now in its sixth generation, the popular Outback benefits from the same architecture and the same mechanical and technological upgrades as the Legacy, including standard EyeSight and LED headlights as well as the available 260-horsepower turbo engine and 11.6-inch display. You’ll also find Subaru STARLINK Connected Services for three months, allowing you to monitor and control the vehicle remotely.

In Canada, the 2020 Subaru Outback will offer seven trim levels: Convenience ($30,695), Touring ($34,795), Limited ($38,995), Premier ($40,995), Outdoor XT ($38,695), Limited XT ($41,795) and Premier XT ($43,795). The list of features is basically identical to the sedan’s.

The big difference is the addition of an Outdoor XT model designed for the most passionate adventurers. It features a dual-function version of Subaru’s X-Mode that offers Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud modes so you can go virtually wherever necessary.

Also part of the package is a front-view camera that offers a 180-degree view of what lies ahead, all-weather rubber floor mats, weather-proof seating with green contrast stitching, a full-size spare tire, 18-inch alloy wheels, plus black finish on the front grille and side mirror caps.
