Challenging the BMW 3 Series is no easy task, but that’s precisely what the TLX is trying to do. The base A-Spec model features a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine rated at 272 horsepower, while the TLX Type S benefits from a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 cranking up 355 horsepower. All of them rely on a 10-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive system. Unlike some rivals, this is a compact luxury sedan with good residual value.

Review: 2015 Acura TLX

Acura is pulling no punches when it comes to the 2015 TLX: This car represents the most important launch in the brand’s history. Smack dab in the middle of Acura’s lineup, wedged between the Honda Civic-based ILX and the full-size RLX, the TLX replaces both the TSX and TL sedans.

Under its serious exterior, the TLX is hides a tickle trunk of technologis. The front-wheel drive models have the P-AWS system, which pivots the rear wheels ever so slightly on corners for impressive handling. More on the Acura TLX here .
