Genesis GV70 Mid-Cycle Update Coming for 2026

Similar to the G80 midsize sedan and GV80 midsize SUV, Genesis’ GV70 compact SUV—The Car Guide’s Best Buy in the segment—has reached the midpoint of its current generation and is due for an update. Unlike the first two, however, it won’t be for the 2025 model year.

The company today announced details for its domestic market of South Korea, where sales will begin as early as next month. In Canada, the 2025 model can already be ordered, meaning the changes will come for the 2026 model year.

Just so you know, the 2025 GV70 is virtually unchanged, boasting slight equipment revisions and a $1,000 price hike across the lineup versus 2024.

What’s New With the 2026 Genesis GV70?

On the outside, you might have a hard time distinguishing the updated GV70 from the current iteration. The grille pattern, the shape of the headlights, the size of the air intakes and the design of the lower bumper are new. In the rear, the turn signals are now incorporated into the taillights. A new 19-inch wheel design is also part of the mix.

The GV70 Sport benefits from similar changes but naturally retains a more athletic appearance, emphasized by a rear diffuser, dark-chrome exhaust tips and more. The new set of wheels here is 21 inches in size.

The most significant evolution can be found inside. Following the lead of the G80 and GV80, the interior of the GV70 gets a new dashboard capped by a 27-inch OLED digital interface for the instruments and audio/navigation. There are new touch-based HVAC controls below, which some drivers probably won’t like, and a redesigned steering wheel.

Orange stitching and a flat-bottom sport steering wheel set the GV70 Sport apart.

Genesis hasn’t said a word about the engines yet, likely because they’ll remain exactly the same. The standard turbocharged 2.5-litre four-cylinder generates a solid 300 horsepower, while the turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 endows the GV70 Sport with 375 horsepower.

As for the Electrified GV70, we don’t know whether the update will come at the same time or a bit later. Expect the dual-motor setup to carry over, producing up to 483 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque while enabling 383 km of range.
