First 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray Fetches $1.5 Million

The very first unit of the new 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray was sold for $1.1 million USD at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Palm Beach, Florida last Saturday. That’s $1.48 million CAD at the current exchange rate.

All of the hammer price will benefit DonorsChoose, a non-profit organization committed to improving education in underprivileged communities across the U.S.

It’s a big chunk of money, for sure, but far from the $3.6 million USD ($4.5 million CAD) someone paid for the first 2023 Corvette Z06 at another Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona last year.

The Corvette E-Ray, which will officially enter production this summer, is not only the first electrified Corvette ever, but also the first Corvette with all-wheel drive and the first that can operate as a full EV—purists be damned—thanks to its Stealth mode.

It combines the Stingray’s 495-horsepower V8 engine with a front-mounted, 160-horsepower electric motor drawing energy from a 1.9kWh battery located under the centre console. The end result is 655 horsepower, good enough to sprint from 0-60 mph (97 km/h) in 2.5 seconds and achieve the quarter-mile in 10.5 seconds. No other Corvette is quicker.

What about pricing? We already have the answer to that. In Canada, the 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray will start at $128,798 including freight and PDI. A convertible variant will follow at some point.

You can check out the coupe alongside the Chevrolet Silverado EV at the Montreal Electric Vehicle Show this upcoming weekend. The Car Guide will have its own stand, so stop by and let’s have a chat.
