Ford Ramps Up Mustang Mach-E Production, Slashes Prices for 2023

With its new EV supply chain coming online, Ford today announced it will “significantly” increase production of the Mustang Mach-E this year to help reduce customer wait times. After nearly 78,000 in 2022, it now expects to build around 130,000 Mach-Es globally this year.

Under its Ford+ Plan, the automaker will also scale production of the F-150 Lightning pickup and E-Transit cargo van this year, having secured enough batteries and raw materials, it says.

The other major news when it comes to the Mustang Mach-E is that Ford has decided to slash prices for 2023—most definitely in a response to Tesla, which recently announced big price cuts for all of its vehicles. The Model Y, for instance, dropped from $85,000 to $69,990 in base trim.

The Mustang Mach-E Premium RWD Standard Range now costs $64,995 (MSRP), down $7,000. With AWD, the new price is set at $67,245, a drop of $8,500. The Extended Range versions of these models carry an MSRP of $77,995 and $80,245, respectively.

The California Route 1 eAWD Extended Range now starts at $79,120, which is $6,805 below the previous MSRP. As for the top-line GT Performance Edition Extended Range, a price cut of $4,750 means it can be yours from $92,745.

Missing from this list is the base Select model, which carries an MSRP of $56,995 and makes the Mustang Mach-E eligible to a $5,000 EV rebate from the Canadian government. A Ford Canada spokesperson confirmed to The Car Guide that pricing for this particular model remains unchanged for now.

Existing Mustang Mach-E customers awaiting delivery of their vehicle will automatically receive the adjusted price. Meanwhile, those with a sale date after January 1, 2023 who already have their Mustang Mach-E will receive a private offer from Ford.

“We are not going to cede ground to anyone,” said Marin Gjaja, Chief Customer Officer at Ford Model e, likely referring to Tesla. “We are producing more EVs to reduce customer wait times, offering competitive pricing and working to create an ownership experience that is second to none.”

The company also stressed that its BlueOval Charge Network is North America’s largest public charging network with over 79,000 charging plugs and growing.
