Mazda CX-50 Meridian Edition is Here and Wants to Take You Farther

Just like it promised at the premiere of the all-new 2023 CX-50 last fall, Mazda is now adding a Meridian Edition that aims to further the outdoor experience.

Based on the GT Turbo model, this adventure-ready CX-50 features extra equipment and accessories that make the compact SUV a bit more capable and versatile.

The list starts with 18-inch black metallic alloy wheels wrapped in all-terrain Falken tires designed to take on more challenging conditions and obstacles. Aesthetically, the Meridian Edition stands out with an all-new headlamp garnish and a unique matte black hood graphic reducing glare. The same body cladding is found on the sides, but the Meridian Edition is exclusively offered in Polymetal Grey Metallic or Zircon Sand Metallic, while the interior is only available in the new Terracotta leather with black interior accents.

The turbocharged 2.5-litre engine under the hood generates 256 horsepower and 320 lb-ft. of torque on premium 93 octane fuel, or 227 horsepower and 310 lb-ft. of torque on regular 87 octane fuel. Similar to every other CX-50, this one features Mazda's Mi-Drive system, which includes Normal, Sport, Off-Road and Towing drive modes. In Towing mode, when properly equipped, it is capable of towing up to 3,500 pounds.

On top of that, Mazda offers an Apex Package upgrade that adds roof-mounted black crossbars, a roof platform for securing more outdoor equipment or even setting up a rooftop tent, as well as front and rear splash guards.

Don’t want the full Meridian Edition? Customers who select another CX-50 model can still have pretty much all of the above installed by a Mazda dealer as standalone Meridian accessories.

Pricing for the 2023 Mazda CX-50 starts at $37,900, which doesn’t include $1,950 for freight & PDI. The Meridian Edition costs $47,850, while the Apex Package requires an additional $1,400.
