Electrify Canada Now Aims for 500 Fast Chargers by 2025

Electrify Canada, an electric vehicle charging network that began its operations in 2019 with 32 planned locations in select parts of the country, now aims to have more than 100 by the end of 2025.

EV owners will find a total of 500 individual DC fast chargers at these locations.

In addition to increasing the number of charging stations in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario and Quebec, Electrify Canada will expand its network to nine provinces, adding stations in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. That means most EVs will be able to travel from Halifax to Victoria along an Electrify Canada route.

As is the case right now, the new charging stations will be found at strategic locations in large urban centres, along major highways and near popular amenities. Many will have canopies to help shelter customers from the elements and provide enhanced lighting.

“We have decided to double our current charging infrastructure in North America over the next four years to help meet the need for the rapid growth expected of electric vehicles by virtually all the auto manufacturers, and to help make EV adoption more accessible and attractive than ever,” said Giovanni Palazzo, president and CEO of Electrify America, which oversees networks in the U.S. and Canada.

Across the continent, Electrify America plans to have more than 1,800 fast charging stations and 10,000 individual chargers installed by the end of 2025.
