2015 Dodge Charger Hellcat: Official Unveiling

The (slightly) mad engineers at SRT were present at the Woodward Dream Cruise to show us the next car that will benefit from their new Hellcat engine. Everyone, meet the 2015 Charger SRT Hellcat.

With this 707 horsepower supercharged V8 crammed under its hood, the Charger SRT Hellcat just became the most powerful production sedan ever produced, ahead of the Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG (620 HP) the BMW M5 (560 HP) and the Audi S8 (520 HP).

Just like the Challenger Hellcat, this new Charger is capable of putting down some serious numbers: 0-100 in 3.7 seconds, top speed of 328 km/h, and an NHRA-certified quarter-mile time of 11 seconds flat on street tires, which is as fast as the new Ferrari F12 Berlinetta. Keep in mind, the Dodge is still a big sedan, capable of comfortably transporting 4 adults and their luggage!

To make sure nobody would mistake the new Hellcat with a rental Charger (and also to improve airflow), the brand’s designers changed nearly every single body panel. You can see a new front bumper, a smaller front grille, modified headlights, a hood with functional air scoops and heat extractors at the back, among other changes.

Transmission choice is limited to the 8-speed automatic. The 6-speed manual offered in the Challenger is sadly not available, but the auto is still pretty good, capable of shifting in less than 160 milliseconds.

All the goodies that were unveiled on the Challenger are also found here, like the performance programs, adjustable suspension, 15.4 inch Brembo brakes and Pirelli P Zero tires.

Pricing has not been mentioned yet, but we can expect the Charger to go on sale at the start of next year.
