Another 7.6 Million Cars Recalled by GM

Things are going from bad to worse for the ignition key fiasco at GM. With the recent addition of 7.6 million vehicles, the total number of targeted vehicles is now 27 million, officially becoming the biggest recall in the automotive world. It shot past the last record held by Ford since 1981, when they had to recall 21 million cars built between 1970 and 1979.

Sadly, including those new vehicles in this recall also sheds some light on some past accidents, meaning that 3 more deaths are now imputed to this defect. This brings the total to 16.

The new targeted vehicles are mainly full-size sedans: 1997-2005 Chevrolet Malibu, 1998-2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue, 1998-2002 Oldsmobile Alero, 1999-2005 Pontiac Grand Am, 2000-2005 Chevrolet Impala/Monte Carlo, 2003-2014 Cadillac CTS, 2004-2006 Cadillac SRX and 2004-2008 Pontiac Grand Prix.

If you or someone you know owns one of these vehicle (or any of the cars included in the previous recalls), the warning is the same as before: remove the ignition key from its key chain, start the vehicle using only that single key, and get an appointment at your local dealership.
