Volkswagen Golf VII Wins "Japanese Car of the Year"

The Japanese have selected the seventh generation Volkswagen Golf as their "Car of the Year."

In addition, it is the first time a non-Japanese car receives the honor.

The contest for Japanese Car of the Year was first launched in 1980.

The Volkswagen Golf VII won out against the other finalists including the Honda Jazz / Fit and Volvo V40 and Mercedes-Benz S-Class

Last year it was the Mazda CX-5 who had received the title.
