VinFast to Compensate Customers Experiencing Vehicle Issues

Vietnamese automaker VinFast has just launched a “Special Aftersales Policy” that will apply to customers in Canada and the U.S., compensating those who experience issues with its electric SUVs including the VF 8 that recently landed on our shores.

Effective since June 15, the limited-time program offers service vouchers or cash to eligible customers.

More specifically, VinFast says customers will receive $160 for each issue that does not impact the use of the vehicle. If an issue causes the vehicle to become inoperable, in addition to providing roadside assistance, VinFast will provide customers with $480.

Should the vehicle require a repair time of more than three days, from the fourth day onward customers will receive $160 for each additional day that their vehicle is being serviced by VinFast. The offer will end once work is completed and the vehicle is ready to go.

Of course, the types of issues will be determined by VinFast upon verification. Compensation will be available in the form of aftersales service vouchers or cash (via bank transfer or check), subject to applicable taxes, the company said.

The Special Aftersales Policy does not extend to issues related to 1) hardware upgrades or scheduled software updates; 2) accidents; 3) vehicle damage caused by customer; 4) the vehicle not being used in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions; or 5) issues that are not reproducible by VinFast.

This program adds to VinFast’s warranty, which covers each vehicle for 10 years/200,000 km and the high-voltage battery for 10 years/unlimited km—by far one of the best new car warranties in the industry.
