Alfa Romeo Adds Standard Safety Tech, New Veloce Trim for 2022
The Giulia sedan and Stelvio compact SUV are the only two products left in Alfa Romeo’s Canadian lineup, but they continue to receive some love from the automaker. Just like they did in 2020 and 2021, both vehicles get a few changes and upgrades for the 2022 model year.
First, the base Sprint models now offer more safety and driver assistance technologies as standard equipment including Active Blind-spot Assist, Active Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, automatic high-beam headlamps as well as front and rear parking sensors.
They also receive standard convenience features such as heated rear seats, a navigation system, wireless charging pad and auto-dimming rear-view mirror. The Giulia adds an air quality system, aluminum sport pedals and aluminum paddle shifters, too.
With regard to styling, a dark grille and exterior accents give the Giulia and Stelvio a slightly more aggressive look. The former also gets a standard sport front fascia.
Higher in the lineup, the Ti Sport model is replaced by a new one called Veloce. It’s the only way to have red leather sport seats in your Giulia or Stelvio.
That being said, the engine remains the same, namely a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder producing 280 horsepower and 306 pound-feet of torque. Meanwhile, the high-performance Quadrifoglio models naturally retain their twin-turbocharged 2.9-litre V6 that delivers a stout 505 horsepower.
Pricing for the updated 2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio will be announced closer to launch in the coming weeks.
