Toyota Teases All-New Model, And We Think We Know What It Is
Toyota has just posted a mysterious image on its press websites and social media in Canada and the U.S., hinting at a new model that will debut soon. Not a single detail has been shared, only the following catchphrase: "Something new is on the horizon." The picture shows a vehicle from behind with the silhouette of an SUV.
A twin light bar spans the entire width, which is a design feature not currently found on any other Toyota product. However, it is reminiscent of new EVs such as the redesigned 2026 bZ and all-new 2026 C-HR.

The SUV looks rather large and boxy, the kind that would fit nicely alongside the 4Runner, Grand Highlander, Land Cruiser and Sequoia. As far as we can tell, Toyota is preparing to finally unveil its first three-row electric SUV—a direct response to the Kia EV9 and Hyundai IONIQ 9.

In fact, it might just be a next-generation Highlander. Remember, the current model dates back to 2020 and its sales have plummeted since the launch of the Grand Highlander, putting its future in doubt. This replacement could keep the name or adopt a new one.
Styling is likely to resemble the bZ Large SUV concept that Toyota showed back in December 2021, which also featured a twin light strip at the rear.

Regarding production, Toyota announced in April 2024 an investment equivalent to approximately $2 billion in its Princeton, Indiana plant (home of the Highlander and Grand Highlander) to build a new three-row electric SUV starting in 2026. There is a plan to build another three-row electric SUV in Georgetown, Kentucky, also starting this year.
