Subaru Canada Clarifies Status of Missing 2026 Models
Although the new year has just begun, automakers have not yet put all their 2026 models on sale. Subaru is one of them.
As you can see on the brand's Canadian website (at the time of writing), some models are still listed as 2025, while others are simply missing. The Car Guide therefore contacted Subaru Canada for clarification.

First, since the WRX traditionally arrives at the beginning of each calendar year, Subaru expects the 2026 model to land in February. We were told that units are on their way, but the exact date they will go on sale is not yet known.

Regarding the Forester Hybrid, which launched later into the 2025 model year, production of the 2026 model has only just begun. The same goes for sales.
Blame Tariffs
Furthermore, a certain number of vehicles have been suspended indefinitely including the Crosstrek Wilderness, Forester Wilderness and Ascent. All were manufactured in Indiana for our market, but due to Canadian countertariffs on U.S.-made products, imports stopped months ago.
Subaru Canada told us that the trio remains on pause, but declined to say for how long or to provide details about its strategy. A review of the tariff situation is still ongoing.

Wilderness models represented only a small fraction of Crosstrek and Forester sales in Canada. The Outback Wilderness is still available, though, and like all the other redesigned 2026 Outbacks, it now comes to us from Japan. Don't miss our first-drive review in the coming weeks.
As for the Ascent, well, it's a fringe competitor in the three-row midsize SUV segment. The only factory in the world that manufactures the Ascent is the U.S. one, so unless a positive trade deal is reached between Ottawa and Washington, it's best to forget about it.

Two Promising New EVs
Two more 2026 models are not currently listed on Subaru Canada's website: the fully electric Uncharted and Trailseeker. Smaller and more affordable, yet just as impressive in terms of power and range as the improved 2026 Solterra, the former is bound to enjoy success in Canada—though perhaps not as much as its Toyota twin, the C-HR, simply because of the brand name. It is expected to arrive at Canadian dealerships in the first few months of 2026, with no further details available at this time.
The same goes for the Trailseeker, a clone of the Toyota bZ Woodland intended to be a more adventurous and more rugged variant of the Solterra. Pricing has yet to be announced.
