2026 Toyota bZ Adds More Potent, Adventure-Ready Woodland Model

Two days after announcing the new 2026 bZ that replaces the bZ4X and features numerous enhancements, Toyota Canada is adding a more powerful and more adventurous Woodland model aimed at active families who like to get off the beaten path.

Developed alongside the equally new Subaru Trailseeker and set to rival the Hyundai IONIQ 5 XRT, this bZ stands out first and foremost with standard all-wheel drive featuring X-Mode and Grip Control functions (which we found quite effective during our test drive of the 2024 Subaru Solterra), 210 mm of ground clearance, available all-terrain tires and dual motors generating a total of 375 horsepower instead of 338.

Unique 18-inch wheels, black overfenders and body colour selection that includes the all-new Stepping Stone further set the bZ Woodland apart. It also has a slightly different profile due to 140 mm of additional length and 20 mm of additional height in the rear, giving it more than 850 litres of cargo space for camping and other gear. Standard roof rails are another key feature, providing more utility for accessories like luggage or bike racks.

Maximum towing capacity is rated at 3,500 lbs, which is great. Of course, range will decrease in a hurry should you pull such heavy loads. For the record, Toyota claims an estimated 418 km of range, a bit shy of the XLE AWD (460 km) and Limited AWD (430 km) models. Battery capacity is not the same at 74.7 kWh versus 77 kWh, mind you.

Like all 2026 bZ models, the Woodland can charge from 10-80 percent in about 30 minutes under ideal conditions and incorporates an NACS connector giving direct access to Tesla’s Superchargers. A new battery preconditioning system is expected to speed up charging sessions in cold weather. What's more, an 11kW on-board AC charger is part of the mix.

In addition to the all-terrain tires mentioned earlier, the optional Premium package includes a nine-speaker JBL audio system, fixed panoramic glass roof, digital rearview mirror, ventilated front seats and position memory for the driver's seat and side mirrors.

We also need to tell you that the seats are upholstered in a choice of black or stone-brown SofTex synthetic leather. The multimedia display measures 14 inches and is flanked by a steering wheel with paddle shifters to activate and adjust regenerative braking on demand.

If you're interested in the 2026 Toyota bZ Woodland, you should know that it will go on sale early next year compared with the second half of 2025 for other bZs. Pricing will be announced closer to launch.
