All-New 2026 Subaru Trailseeker Debuts as Adventurous Electric SUV

Joining the refreshed and improved Solterra, the all-new 2026 Subaru Trailseeker made its global debut today as the company’s second electric SUV. It’s larger, more versatile and more focused on adventure than the Solterra.

Both vehicles embody Subaru's new visual identity, including redesigned headlamps and bumpers, new-look 18- and 20-inch wheels and an illuminated logo. While the Trailseeker boasts the same 210mm ground clearance, it stands 25 mm taller and 150 mm longer overall. Roof rails come standard for extra cargo capacity, and towing capacity increases to 1,500 kg (3,300 lbs).

Inside, the infotainment system powers a 14-inch touchscreen, while a metallic insert runs the length of the dashboard. The huge centre console provides plenty of storage space while incorporating dual wireless charging pads for smartphones and two USB-C ports at the rear. Unsurprisingly, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, as is Subaru’s EyeSight suite of driver assistance technologies.

A New Powertrain

Without specifying what it is, Subaru said that the 2026 Trailseeker is equipped with a new powertrain generating 375 horsepower. All-wheel drive is naturally part of the mix along with the X-MODE function—also found on gasoline-powered Subarus—which allows the AWD system to be configured for snow or mud, for example. Ditto for hill descent control.

Additionally, the Trailseeker is equipped with acceleration sensors that analyze driving conditions in order to adjust handling in real time. A computer determines the amount of power to be sent to the wheels—when braking or cornering—to either improve or maintain vehicle stability and traction.

Featuring a 74.7kWh battery with preconditioning technology, the Trailseeker promises a range of 420 km according to Subaru. What's more, a built-in NACS port will allow direct access to Tesla’s Superchargers. The maximum DC rate and charging times have not been disclosed yet.

Subaru will share more information including full specifications and pricing details closer to launch in early 2026.
