The issue comes from the Integrated Park Module, which could fail to properly engage the parking pawl when the driver selects Park. As a result, the vehicle could roll away accidentally.

There's no real need to go into technical details. Just know that the problem occurs intermittently and, according to Ford, affects approximately 1% of the recall population. Drivers will be alerted by the absence of an illuminated "P," a wrench warning light or a shift system fault message on the instrument cluster.
The company says it is not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries directly related to this problem. The fix is a software update that can be performed over the air, although owners may choose to have it installed at a dealership. More information is available on the Ford Canada recalls website.
