2026 Toyota Corolla Makes One Last Stop Before Upcoming Redesign

Unlike the RAV4, which is getting a full makeover for 2026, the Toyota Corolla will wait until the 2027 model year to begin a new chapter. The current generation of the Japanese compact sedan, which dates back to 2020, is therefore making one last stop.

The 2026 Corolla lineup still has 10 trim levels, and changes are limited to a few equipment revisions. For example, a 7-inch digital gauge cluster is now standard on all gas models, an updated 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster can be found on hybrid SE and XSE models, and a tire pressure monitor system is added to several models.

Speaking of powertrain options, the base 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine generates 169 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque via a continuously variable transmission. The Corolla Hybrid's system, meanwhile, delivers a net output of 138 horsepower and drops average fuel consumption all the way down to 4.7 L/100 km (4.9 or 5.3 L/100 km with the optional electronically controlled all-wheel drive system).

Have prices increased for 2026? The answer is yes, roughly $800 to $1,100 depending on the trim level. To give you a better idea, the entry-level Corolla L goes from $26,899 to $27,815 including all applicable fees. The most expensive gas-powered Corolla is the XSE at $36,135. If you prefer a hybrid model, expect to pay between $31,035 and $40,510 before tax.

The 2026 Toyota Corolla is already on sale at Canadian dealerships, by the way. The same goes for the 2026 Corolla Hatchback, which will attract some nostalgic customers with the addition of a retro-style FX Edition that’s limited to 150 units in Canada. Here, prices range from $28,115 to $34,114.

As for the next generation of the sedan, it is expected to debut within a year and hit the market in the second half of 2026 as a 2027 model. If Toyota's trend continues, expect the gasoline engine to go out and the lineup to become hybrid-only, which could prove to be a shock to many buyers on a budget.
