2026 Toyota Corolla Hatchback Adds Retro Flavour With FX Edition

The next-generation Toyota Corolla isn’t quite ready yet even though the current model dates back to 2020. The Corolla Hatchback, which is actually a year older, gets a retro flavour for 2026 with the new FX Edition inspired by the 1987 Corolla FX16.

Based on the SE trim level, the car mainly stands out with 18-inch alloy wheels in a gloss white finish as well as a black vented sport wing in the rear. A unique badge is applied to the liftgate, too.

In Canada, the FX Edition will be available exclusively in White, whereas customers in the U.S. have additional body colours to choose from including Inferno (burnt orange) or Blue Crush Metallic.

The interior is as contemporary as it gets for a Corolla, mind you. The new black Sport Touring seats with suede inserts and orange stitching are complemented by bright stitching on the steering wheel and shifter boot. There’s a 7-inch digital gauge cluster, plus an 8-speaker JBL sound system and a wireless smartphone charger, all of them standard.

As you can guess, the FX Edition doesn’t receive an extra dose of power. There are no changes to the 2.0-litre engine under the hood, which still generates 169 hp and 151 lb-ft of torque. Performance enthusiasts must upgrade to the 300-hp GR Corolla for more.

One last thing: only 150 units will be allocated to the Canadian market. The FX Edition and other 2026 Toyota Corolla Hatchback models will go on sale this fall. Further details such as pricing will be announced at that time.
