2026 Dodge Charger SIXPACK: The Gas-Powered Charger is Back!

It's finally here! Dodge is bringing back the combustion engine under the hood of its legendary Charger. Dubbed SIXPACK, it references the 1970 Charger, whose engine was equipped with three dual-barrel carburetors. Today, it's the 3.0-litre, twin-turbo Hurricane six-cylinder engine that powers the beast, and it comes in two configurations. The two- and four-door Scat Pack variants use the High Output (H.O.) version, which outputs 550 horsepower and 531 lb-ft of torque – which is the most powerful Hurricane ever built. In terms of performance, this translates into a 0-60 mph sprint in 3.9 seconds, 12.2 for the quarter mile, and a top speed of 177 mph.

Behind these figures lie some impressive engineering feats. First, restrictions in the exhaust and induction systems were eliminated, and a forged aluminum engine block was chosen. The Garrett turbochargers produce 88% of maximum torque at 2,500 rpm and 90% of which is delivered between 3,000 and 6,000 rpm. The base R/T model has the same engine, but with lower power (Standard Output). It still develops 420 horsepower and 468 lb-ft of torque and has a top speed of 270 km/h.

Versatile all-wheel drive

All models come with all-wheel drive and an 880RE TorqueFlite 8-speed transmission. However, it is possible to completely disconnect the front axle and send 100% of the power to the rear wheels. Alternatively, the Line Lock function applies the brakes, disengages the front axle, and allows for smoky burnout.

Of course, launch control is also included, as are five driving modes: Auto, Eco, Snow/Rain, Sport, and Custom. The exhaust system features electronically controlled valves that change the tone depending on the driving mode. The Charger SIXPACK offers good weight distribution, with the front end slightly heavier (55%) than the rear (45%). The huge 380 mm front brakes are equipped with six-piston calipers, while the rear discs measure 360 mm in diameter. On the track, the performance menu offered by the infotainment system allows you to analyze various parameters such as G-forces, lap times, etc.

A familiar design

Visually very similar to the electric-powered Daytona model, the gasoline version is distinguished by a few key elements, including the SIXPACK emblems and the prominent front grille. The vehicle's width is further accentuated by its muscular lines and 20-inch wheels adorned with the Fratzog logo.

The rear features two exhaust tips (chrome or black, depending on the options), while the Scat Pack model comes standard with a glossy black spoiler on the trunk. The interior is largely inspired by the 1968 Charger, with, of course, a touch of modernity. The cockpit features a steering wheel with flattened upper and lower sections. Behind it is a 10.25-inch (or 16-inch optional) digital instrument cluster, and the center console features a pistol-shaped gear lever.

The optional “Attitude Adjustment” feature adds a sculptural texture that wraps around the cockpit at 270 degrees and 64 ambient colors. The multimedia system includes a 12.3-inch screen and integrates the Uconnect 5 interface. It includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard.

Other available features include TomTom navigation, Sirius XM subscription, and Amazon's Alexa assistant. The panoramic sunroof, 18-speaker 914-watt Alpine PRO audio system, and augmented reality head-up display are among the available options. Finally, several safety technologies are also available as standard and optional features.

Coming soon to a showroom near you

The entry-level R/T model has a starting price of $62,290 (including a $2,295 destination charge), while the Scat Pack raises the price to $72,290. For four-door versions, add $3,000 to that. Orders for the two-door Scat Pack model will begin this month, and the vehicle is expected to arrive at dealerships later this year. The two-door R/T model, meanwhile, will arrive at dealerships in the first half of 2026. As for the four-door version, it will be available to order in the first half of 2026.
