All-New 2026 Subaru Uncharted is Like a Crosstrek EV With 480 Km of Range
Subaru Canada is having an awfully good year so far with record sales and new electric vehicle announcements including the updated 2026 Solterra and the brand new 2026 Trailseeker, the latter unveiled at the New York Auto Show in April. Now, a third EV is making its debut.
The Crosstrek-sized 2026 Subaru Uncharted will serve as the gateway to the brand's electric lineup, and executives believe it will become a high-volume seller. Even though this model shares many elements with the 2026 Toyota C-HR—returning to the North American market as a full EV—Subaru is banking on selection to attract a large number of people.

New Design Language
Subaru’s new lighting signature, also found on the 2026 Solterra and Trailseeker, features distinctive, weather-resistant headlamps and a six-star illuminated logo. New 18- and 20-inch wheel designs are available, as well as a high-contrast, two-tone roof exclusively in top-line GT trim. This one and the Sport model slotting below get low-profile roof rails for increased versatility. In the rear, the sloping window ends where a subtle, black-painted lip spoiler begins.

“Normally, we have our Subaru logo in the rear, but going forward it will be removed from most vehicles and replaced with Subaru lettering,” said Anton Pawczuk, Senior Director, Product Management & Connected Business at Subaru Canada.
Moving inside, the cabin boasts sharp horizontal lines and exclusive orange accents, with the Uncharted offering three interior colours. Sport and GT models are available with synthetic leather called StarTex. A Toyota-sourced, 14-inch touchscreen comes standard along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

As Pawczuk pointed out, even the base model features 64 ambient lightning combinations. The centre console houses dual wireless charging pads for smartphones. The upscale GT model further stands out with heated rear seats for outboard passengers.
Unsurprisingly, the Subaru Uncharted also includes a suite of EyeSight driver-assist technologies, including available Pre-Collision Braking, Front Cross Traffic Alert, Blind Spot Monitors, Lane Departure Alert, a panoramic view monitor, Emergency Stop Assist, Traffic Jam Assist, Lane Change Assist, Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control and more.

Four Models, Two Batteries
The all-new Uncharted emphasizes dynamic performance and responsive handling, with a turning radius nearly identical to the Crosstrek’s at 10.8 metres. Compared to the Solterra, it is shorter by over 170 mm yet offers decent passenger room and more than 700 litres of cargo space behind the second row, which folds almost completely flat.
Looking at the EV market and the competition, Subaru Canada chose to offer four trim levels equally split between FWD and AWD configurations—which may come as a surprise for many—plus two different batteries. The size of the smaller one isn’t specified yet. Drivers aiming to cover more ground will obviously turn to the 77kWh pack, which is rated at 221 hp and 480 km of range.

AWD-equipped Sport and GT models come with the larger battery exclusively. They increase output to 338 hp but drop range to 460 km. Meanwhile, X-Mode allows drivers to benefit from superior traction in a variety of road and off-road conditions. In typical Subaru fashion, ground clearance is a generous 212 mm. As for towing, the Sport and GT can both handle up to 1,500 kg (3,307 lbs), which is impressive. The (lower) rating for FWD models will be announced at a later date.
A standard NACS charge port can be found on the front right fender. In fact, all 2026 Subaru EV models will feature an NACS port, with customers having the opportunity to purchase an adapter for other DC fast chargers. With speeds up to 150 kW, the Uncharted can charge its battery from 10-80% in approximately 30 minutes even in cold weather conditions thanks to an onboard battery preconditioning system, the company claims.

Pricing and more detailed specifications for the 2026 Subaru Uncharted will be released closer to market launch early next year. By the way, Canadian units will be built in Japan. The larger 2026 Trailseeker will go on sale shortly afterwards.
