Chevrolet Blazer EV Loses Longest-Range Model for 2026

The Chevrolet Blazer EV is currently the only electric vehicle on the North American market available in three separate drive configurations: front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. However, for the 2026 model year, the second configuration will be eliminated in order to simplify the lineup.

The news was confirmed this week to U.S. media by a Chevrolet spokesperson.

It's a shame in a way, because the Blazer EV RS RWD (365 hp, 325 lb-ft of torque) was the model with the longest range at 538 km according to Natural Resources Canada, as well as the one with the best towing capacity (3,500 lbs), on par with the AWD-equipped, performance-focused SS model. Both feature a 102kWh battery.

Then again, the RS RWD was also the second most expensive model you could buy, with a price of $68,433 before taxes and incentives.

If you can settle for a less powerful, FWD-only Blazer EV (220 hp, 243 lb-ft), maximum range is still an impressive 502 km. This drops to 455 km when opting for the available 22-inch wheels—same distance as LT AWD and RS AWD models (300 hp, 355 lb-ft). Here, we're talking about an 85kWh battery.

As for the mighty and mega-fast Blazer EV SS, which generates up to 615 hp in Wide Open Watts mode and 650 lb-ft of torque, it does even better, claiming an official range of 488 km. There’s a significant premium to pay, mind you, as the all-inclusive price exceeds $73,000.

Other than that, you should know that the 2026 Chevrolet Blazer EV offers some new colour choices as well as a new package combining black exterior trim with 22-inch wheels in a bronze finish. Production will start in July at the Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico. Canadian prices will be announced at a later date.
