Final Chrysler 300C Rolls Off the Line in Brampton, What Next?

The large American sedan is going extinct as production of the Chrysler 300 comes to a close in the next few days at the Brampton assembly plant in Ontario. The last of 2,200 units of the 2023 300C (including 200 for Canada) actually rolled off the line before the weekend.

Reservations for this special-edition model, which boasts a 6.4-litre HEMI V8 delivering 485 horsepower and 0-100 km/h acceleration in four and a half seconds, were fulfilled in just 12 hours after its reveal at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit back in September 2022.

Let’s refresh your memory with a short history lesson. The Chrysler 300 originally launched in 1955 with a 300-horsepower HEMI V8. Two years later, the company added the 300C, equipped with a standard 392-cubic-inch (6.4-litre) 375-horsepower HEMI. The modern 300 arrived for 2005 and followed a similar recipe, offering a 5.7-litre HEMI with 340 horsepower in the 300C and later a 6.1-litre HEMI with 425 horsepower in the 300C SRT8.

“Chrysler brand is proud to mark the legacy of the Chrysler 300C as a true automotive icon, one of the original muscle cars representing bold American Luxury” said Chris Feuell, Chrysler brand chief executive officer. “As we celebrate the last HEMI-powered 300C off the line with our Brampton team members, we’re also excited to work together as Chrysler brand moves forward to a sustainable all-electric future as part of the Stellantis Dare Forward 2030 strategic plan.”

In April of this year, Mopar Insiders reported that Stellantis held a private dealer event in Las Vegas to show three future vehicles, one of which was a Chrysler-branded electric sedan. We haven’t really heard about it since then, however.

As for the Brampton plant, it will be retooled starting early in 2024 and should resume operations in the second half of 2025, building vehicles on one of Stellantis’ new platforms including at least one EV. We learned a few weeks ago that the next-gen Jeep Compass will be produced there.
