All-Electric Cadillac Escalade to be Unveiled Later in 2023
Cadillac, which last year introduced an Escalade-V with a 682-horsepower supercharged V8 burning more than 18 litres of fuel per 100 km, will try to appease Mother Earth’s friends later in 2023 by unveiling a zero-emission variant of its full-size SUV.
We’ve known for nearly four years now that an electric Escalade was in the works. GM’s luxury brand this week confirmed the imminent reveal as well as a name: Escalade IQ.

The way things work at Cadillac is that electric vehicles have a name that ends in “iq,” as in Lyriq or Celestiq. But calling this one “Escaladiq” would have sounded strange and just plain wrong, so the folks in charge of marketing wisely opted to separate the two letters from the iconic Escalade’s name.
The announcement made by Cadillac provides no details except that the Escalade IQ “promises the same commitment to craftsmanship, technology, and performance that has helped the Escalade nameplate dominate the large SUV segment for the last 20 years."
Naturally, GM’s Ultium platform will underpin the vehicle. Given its larger-than-life status, it’s reasonable to envision a three-motor system similar to that of the GMC Hummer EV, which can produce up to 1,000 horsepower. Don’t expect the same type of off-road capability, however, as the Escalade is a posh SUV designed to rule paved roads.
With regard to styling, Cadillac will likely play it safe, meaning the exterior should resemble a gas-powered Escalade with a closed grille.
