Toronto 2010 : In honor of Carroll Shelby

Although the Chicago and Toronto auto shows are held simultaneously, it is evident that the American show will get worldwide press coverage while the Canadian show will just get national coverage.

For example, if you consult the Web to find out about new models and concepts presented during these two events, you will discover that the number on new products presented in Chicago far exceeds the number of those shown in Toronto. The Toronto show ends up presenting products exposed in Detroit that could not be in the Montreal show

In honor of Carroll

The Toronto automobile show, better known under the name Canadian International AutoShow is sponsored by the Toronto Automobile Dealers Association.

This year, thanks to the contribution of this association’s foundation, Carroll Shelby will be offered a tribute, as a visionary and father of the famous American “Muscle Car”. On this occasion, Mr. Shelby will be enthroned into the Canadian Motorsports Hall of Fame

Each year, the organizers of the Canadian International AutoShow start off the show with a gala, an excellent opportunity to pay homage to the “Greats” of the auto industry. This event is open to the general public, although a substantial contribution of $150 is necessary to attend.

Carroll Shelby, 87 years in age, is still a staunch businessman who, since his new alliance with Ford, has kept on developing Ford Shelby models that are always as powerful and always based on the icon Ford Mustang.

Two birds, one stone

For this occasion, an exclusive version of a Ford Shelby GT500 2011 will be auctioned off, bearing a “Carroll Shelby” signature on it’s hood.

Here is an activity that will benefit two important foundations. First the “Canadian Motorsports Heritage Foundation” and second the “Carroll Shelby Foundation”, created in 1991, and whose role is to help sick children, along with assisting them in their studies.
