Ford Expedition, Lincoln Navigator Owners Need to Watch for Fire Risks
Ford has just issued a warning to many of its full-size SUV customers who own a 2021 Ford Expedition or Lincoln Navigator as these vehicles may pose a risk of under hood fire.
Sixteen incidents have been reported so far. The root cause of the problem is still unknown, but the incidents are believed to originate in the rear of the engine compartment near the passenger side of the vehicle. An investigation is ongoing.

The automaker will recall over 39,000 Expeditions and Navigators in the U.S. plus another 2,863 in Canada, all of them built between Dec. 1, 2020 and April 30, 2021.
According to Ford, 12 of the 16 incidents reportedly occurred while the vehicle was parked and off, one reportedly while the vehicle was parked and on, and three reportedly while the vehicle was in motion.
Until a remedy is found and the SUVs are fixed, owners are advised to park outside and away from other vehicles and structures. Ford, though, has not issued instructions to stop driving the vehicles under this recall and is not aware of any accidents related to this issue.
Recall notices will be sent shortly via the FordPass and Lincoln Way app as well as by mail.
The Expedition and Navigator were also hit by a larger recall earlier this month, along with 2020-2022 Ford Super Duty pickups and 2020-2021 E-150 vans. Some 81,000 vehicles are affected in Canada. The problem is far less serious, mind you: the windshield wiper arms may not have been manufactured correctly. They could slip and may not wipe the windshield properly.
