VinFast Announces Canadian Pricing for VF 8, VF 9 Electric SUVs

Vietnamese automaker VinFast, which will launch in North America later in 2022 with a lineup of fully electric SUVs, has announced Canadian pricing for its first two models.

The mid-sized VF 8 starts at $51,250, while the larger and more upscale VF 9 with three-row seating retails from $69,750. None of them qualify for the $5,000 EV rebate from the federal government.

However, VinFast says early customers who book reservations between now and April 5 with a fully refundable $250 deposit will be eligible for membership in the VinFirst exclusive program including a discount of up to $3,500 for the VF 8 or $6,000 for the VF 9.

Additionally, VinFirst members in Canada will also be offered a host of premium benefits, including a mobile charger for the vehicles, ADAS and Smart Service packages, and even a 7-day tour (excluding air tickets) in a seaside 3-bedroom villa for 4 persons in one of many Vinpearl resorts in Vietnam. How cool is that?

On the flip side, customers will have to lease the battery, with the ability to trade it for another one in the future. A replacement will also be offered down the line when the battery can be charged to no more than 70 percent of its original capacity.

VinFast Canada has so far received more than 300 early reservations for the two SUVs.

“We are proud to offer Canadians VinFast’s very first EV models through our company-owned store network and online purchasing,” said Huynh Du An, VinFast Canada Chief Executive Officer. “We expect to bring our customers a seamless, easy to navigate experience so that VinFast EVs will become their top choice for the journey towards a greener, safer and more sustainable future.”

VinFast plans to open 38 stores across B.C., Ontario and Quebec by the end of 2023. Those in Toronto (already under construction), Mississauga, Laval and Montreal will be among the first. Deliveries to customers are set to begin in late 2022.
