Cuban Embargo: the Return of Exported Vehicles
The American government just changed a few of its regulations regarding the Cuban Embargo. It will now be easier for travellers to bring back cigars and rhum, two pretty popular items.
This law also means that the two countries will be able to collaborate on science projects and will enable Cubans to import stuff on their own.
What does this has to do with the automotive world? Well, according to Hemmings Daily, Cubans will now be able to sell their imported vehicle back into the United States. Some collectors will assuredly be willing to pay big bucks for importing a 1955 Chevrolet or a rare Chrysler that are still in amazingly good condition.
Furthermore, Cubans will now have the option of sending their cars to the United States for a complete or a partial restoration; not every Cuban will have the means to do so, but for those that could, this option will be a nice change that will help give a second life to their cars (local mechanics may be really inventive, but they have difficulties finding parts).
