Tesla sets a New Sales Record
The month of October is upon us and that means manufacturers will be sending out countless press releases about how great a month September was. It would seem that for the last few years, every carmaker sets a new monthly record.
In Tesla’s case, to be more precise, they expect they will have delivered 24,500 new cars (15,800 Model S and 8,700 Model X). Unlike most other car manufacturers, Tesla only counts a vehicle as sold once all the paperwork is done and that the car has been delivered to its new owner. Also contrary to others, Tesla only makes actual sales figures available on a quarterly basis, as opposed to every month.
The third quarter was crucial for the Palo Alto, CA. car company as it needed to demonstrate that it can profitable, and meet or exceed its targets. They plan on raising money with investors shortly in order to prepare for Model 3 production, slated to begin late next year.
Once more, unlike the majority of its rivals, Tesla has a pricing policy that limits the possibility of negotiating a deal. They did however, offer some incentives in order to keep Model S and Model X sales in good health. The Model 3 can’t come soon enough!
Tesla’s production is still on track to rise to 500,000 units a year by 2018. The challenge is on.
