F-150 Limited trim returning to top of pickup's lineup in 2016
As light truck sales continue to outpace passenger cars in both Canada and the United States, Ford has announced plans to bring back the Limited trim to the 2016 F-150.
Slated to become the sixth trim level available on the F-150, the Limited will take its place at the top of the truck's lineup ahead of the likes of King Ranch and Platinum.
"The F-150 Limited sets a new bar for what discerning customers should expect in a high-end truck," Ford's vice-president of global product development, Raj Nair, said in a release.
"We’re adding segment-exclusive technology and features that improve productivity, convenience and capability with distinctive style."
Available in black, slate grey, metallic white and blue, the F-150 Platinum will ride on 22-inch polished aluminum wheels and feature a unique grille and 'LIMITED' lettering on the front of the hood, a chrome front bumper with body-colour end caps, a body-colour rear bumper, chrome door handles, chrome exhaust tip, and a massive chrome badge on the tailgate.
Four-wheel drive models add chrome front tow hooks, while all F-150 Limited models get a panoramic sunroof, power running boards, and LED headlights, as well as remote start with a tailgate release.
Inside, the truck gets heated and cooled 10-way power-adjustable two-tone leather front seats with a massage feature, heated rear seats, a Sony 10-speaker stereo system, and a touchscreen SYNC infotainment system complete with a five-year subscription to SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link.
Cross-traffic alert and an integrated trailer brake controller are standard, while an available technology package adds a lane-keeping system, a 360° camera, and Ford's dynamic trailer hitch assist, which helps back- or hookup a trailer.
With the Platinum trim, sitting atop the truck's current lineup, starting at $55,209 in Canada, expect the 2016 F-150 Limited to carry a starting MSRP somewhere in the neighbourhood of $58,000 to $60,000.
