London Could Host Its Own Auto Show
2008 marked the end of the British International Motor Show; it was cancelled because its organizers didn't see any correlation between their efforts and an increase in the number of car sales.
That's a shame, since the UK is Europe's second biggest car-buying market, and it would be logical that the country would have its own auto show where buyers could see a variety of vehicles under the same roof.
An organization (BNC Special Events) is trying to arrange for just that. This time however, they have decided to change the traditional recipe: instead of jamming as many cars as they can onto an exposition centre's floor, they will host their event in an outside park. According to BNC, this will create a deeper link between manufacturers and prospective buyers, and allow people to test-drive cars. This show will also put an emphasis on green energy and safety. This new London-based auto show could happen as early as 2016.
As a reminder, the Goodwood Festival of Speed has been the unofficial auto show of the United Kingdom ever since the BIMS was cancelled.
