Ferrari 458 Speciale A: Sky’s The Limit

The most powerful version of the Ferrari Italia, the Speciale, is a monster created for a single purpose: to become the ultimate tool for beating lap times on one the world’s most prestigious circuits (it is mostly used to parade on classy boulevards, but that is a story for another time…). With a 4.5L flat-plane V8 revving up to 9000 rpm and unleashing 605 horsepower, this car is one of the best to ever come out of Maranello.

Riding on the success of the Speciale, Ferrari just unveiled a Spider version, the Speciale Aperta (which means open, in Italian). Only 499 will be produced, giving its wealthy owners even more exclusivity. Since convertibles are usually not allowed on racetracks (unless they have a roll cage), this car will most liklely be limited to prowling the streets of Monaco and Dubai.

Ferrari announced that the Aperta is the fastest convertible Ferrari has ever produced. It can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 3 seconds, and should hit a top speed of 325 km/h.

You can see the Ferrari 458 Speciale Aperta for the first time at the Paris Motor Show on October 2nd.
