Lotus Exige LF1: Honoring Formula 1

The timing may not be ideal, considering the final results of the Lotus F1 team at the Canadian Grand Prix (both cars retired because of mechanical defects), but the British manufacturer just unveiled a limited run of 81 Exige LF1s built to commemorate the team’s success in Formula 1.

Each coupe will be individually numbered to remind its owner of one of Lotus’s victories, car #1 being made for the 1960 Monaco GP win, and #81 commemorating Kimi Raikkonen’s victory in Australia last year.

All Exige LF1s will be painted black with a red and gold livery, the F1 team’s traditional colors. All cars will come with unique extras, like the Exige Race Package, including the Dynamic Performance Management system, high-performance two-piece brakes and lightweight wheels painted in gold with red accents and wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero Trofeo tires.

Other than the vehicle itself, owners will receive a guided visit of the Lotus and Lotus F1 factories and various collectibles. For example: A Lotus F1 key fob, F1-branded USB stick, a 1:2 replica of Romain Grosjean’s helmet and rebates in the Lotus Lifestyle shops.

There are only two little pieces of information that may spoil the fun: the first one is that while no mention of the price was made, the standard Exige S starts at $80,000, so the LF1 could end up being quite expensive. As for the second piece of information, since some obscure US laws prevent the sale of said Exige S in North America, we poor Canadians won’t have a chance to buy one.

So enjoy your ultimate Lotus, rest of the world!
