Volkswagen Opens Sixteenth Chinese Factory

Located in Ningbo, the factory creates 5,700 jobs and has an annual production capacity of 300,000 vehicles. It was built in collaboration with the Chinese manufacturer SAIC. It will manufacture both Skoda and Volkswagen vehicles.

Production models use the MQB modular platform. The first vehicle to be assembled is the Skoda Superb.

China has become the main market of the German manufacturer, which sold 2.81 million units there in 2012. Since January 2013, Volkswagen has seen its sales increase by 18%.
