An electric version of the little city car, known to North Americans as the Scion iQ, will be officially unveiled, this week, at the Paris Motor Show.
The car will compete head to head with the smart fortwo electric drive.

The electric motor and lithium-ion 12 kWh battery combination develops 64 HP and 120 lb-ft of torque.
To accommodate the package it was necessary to increase the length by 13.5 cm and weight by 125 kg. The curb weight for the iQ ES is 1055 kilograms.

Autonomy for the Toyota iQ is limited to 85 kilometers.
Recharging from a domestic plug requires only three hours while only 15 minutes are required to reach 80 % of battery capacity using a fast charger.
In concert with the unveiling of the iQ EV, the Japanese manufacturer announced they will offer 25 new hybrid models by 2015.
