Issue: Certain trucks that were repaired under recall 2019-630 (GM #N192268090) received a software update that has an error.

As a result, a second repair is required.

The software error can cause the following symptoms: if the truck is started remotely using the Onstar mobile app or if an operator enters the truck and waits five or more minutes before starting it, the electronic brake assist could be disabled.

This would also cause the ESC (electronic stability control), ABS (antilock brake system) and BRAKE warning lights to turn on.

Safety Risk: If the electronic brake assist is disabled, there would be a longer brake pedal travel.

This could cause reduced braking and increase the risk of a crash.

Corrective Actions: General Motors will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealer to update the Electronic Brake Control Module with the correct software.
