Certain Heavy Duty and Police/Special Service vehicles may not have been repaired properly under Recall 2016-053 (GM #20760).

The brake pedal pivot nut may become loose, causing the brake pedal to be loose or inoperative.

If this happens, a driver may be unable to safely stop the vehicle or the brake pedal may interfere with the accelerator pedal.

Both of these situations could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will add adhesive to the pivot nut and will reinstall it at an increased torque.

Note: This condition may result in the "Service Engine Soon" light illuminating, and brake lights may stay on longer than expected.
