Details

On certain vehicles equipped with gasoline engines and dual fuel tanks, the fuel level sensor in the front tank could become stuck in the low level position, causing the rear tank to overfill the front tank.

If this occurs, the front tank could expand and come in contact with the moving drive shaft which, over time, could create a hole in the front tank and cause a fuel leak.

A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source could result in a fire causing injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will replace the rear tank fuel pump module or flash the vehicle software.

Dealers will also inspect the front tank for damage and replace it as necessary.
