Details

On certain vehicles, due to improper manufacturing, the electrical resistance inside the impact sensor for the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) air bag system may have increased.

As a result, abnormal communication may be detected by the ECU causing the SRS warning lamp to illuminate.

If a vehicle is involved in a collision that warrants front, side, and/or curtain air bag deployment when the SRS warning lamp is illuminated, frontal air bag deployment could be delayed and/or the side and curtain air bag may not deploy.

Failure of an airbag to deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of injury.

Correction: Dealers will replace the SRS impact sensor with a countermeasure unit.
