Fully revamped last year, the BMW X1 shares its platform with the MINI Clubman. As surprising as that may seem, remember that the X1 is not an SUV in the purest sense of the term, but rather a luxury crossover whose competitors include the Audi Q3, Infiniti QX30 and Mercedes-Benz GLA. The X1 has just one available engine, a 228-horsepower, 2.0-litre four-cylinder. All-wheel drive comes standard.
