Top 10 Most Affordable Vehicles With 300 Horsepower or More
Today’s vehicles are more powerful than ever, that’s a fact. And with the Mitsubishi Mirage not returning for 2025, there won’t be any cars left with less than 100 horsepower in Canada.
But what exactly is a “powerful” vehicle? It depends on who you ask, of course. For some, it’s strictly a matter of horsepower. For others, it’s more about torque and acceleration.

Let’s be honest, 200 horsepower no longer impresses anyone these days. At 300 horsepower, however, things are starting to get serious. If that’s what you’re after, here are the most affordable options on the market in 2024. As you’ll see, many of them come from a single brand in particular.
Note: The price for each vehicle is the base Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) at the time of writing and doesn’t include applicable fees and taxes or any rebates from the manufacturer.

10. 2024 Chevrolet Traverse – Starting From $47,999
Redesigned for 2024, the Chevy Traverse has a boxier appearance and a smaller engine, namely a turbocharged 2.5-litre four-cylinder replacing the 3.6-litre V6. Output (315 horsepower versus 310) and torque (317 lb-ft versus 266) are both increased, mind you.

9. 2024 GMC Canyon – Starting From $47,099
The GMC Canyon is largely similar to the Chevrolet Colorado, except that it comes standard with 4WD and a 310-horsepower TurboMax 2.7-litre four-cylinder engine.

8. 2024 Nissan Frontier – Starting From $46,998
Unlike most other midsize pickups that use a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, the Nissan Frontier boasts a 3.8-litre V6 that delivers 310 horsepower. A refreshed 2025 model is going on sale later this summer, just so you know, but will probably cost a bit more.

2024 Infiniti Q50 – Starting From $46,595
The Infiniti Q50 in its current form dates back to 2014, and it shows. The main reason why people turn to this compact luxury sedan is still the twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 under the hood, which generates 300 horsepower in base trim.

6. 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 – Starting From $45,899
The GMC Sierra 1500 offers a wide array of models and configurations. A 310-horsepower TurboMax 2.7-litre four-cylinder engine can be found in Pro 4x2 configuration with a regular cab and standard cargo bed.

5. 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 – Starting From $44,899
Similar to its GMC cousin, the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 can be specified in WT 4x2 configuration with a regular cab, standard cargo bed and 310-horsepower TurboMax 2.7-litre four-cylinder engine.

4. 2024 Chevrolet Blazer (3.6L) – Starting From $43,344
The Chevrolet Blazer fills a gap between the Equinox and Traverse. Engine options include a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder (228 horsepower) and a proven 3.6-litre V6 (308 horsepower).

3. 2024 Chevrolet Camaro – Starting From $40,299
Production of the Chevrolet Camaro has ended, but you can still find units on dealer lots across Canada. The base LT model (335 horsepower) with a manual transmission is much harder to come by, though.

2. 2024 Ford Mustang – Starting From $37,130
The seventh generation of the Ford Mustang is the most technologically advanced yet, especially inside. The main thing, though, is that driving excitement and performance are still front and centre. The base 2.3-litre four-cylinder EcoBoost engine is good for 315 horsepower.

1. 2024 Chevrolet Colorado – Starting From $36,609
The Chevrolet Colorado is currently the most affordable vehicle with 300 horsepower or more in Canada. That’s right, a pickup. More specifically, we’re talking about the WT 4x2 model equipped with the available 310-horsepower Turbo Plus 2.7-litre four-cylinder engine.
